Invitational Teacher Leadership Institutes
Teachers leave our rigorous and demanding institutes with improved teaching skills; this new expertise leads directly to improved student achievement in writing for all of their students. A single cohort can potentially impact student achievement for over 500 students. We have fifteen years of local, qualitative, data from area teachers describing the direct impact their new learning has had upon student writing achievement in each of their classrooms.
Each successful teacher participant completes an extensive portfolio of writing in multiple genres. All teachers also present a 90-minute demonstration lesson for their peers, which is later published in a public text, "Little Book of Most Promising Practice." This begins the journey into becoming a certified Teacher Consultant with the National Writing Project.
Our most recent Institute served five local elementary teachers from four different northern districts.
